    Welcome to Delwood Sports

Welcome to the home of Delwood Sports. We offer PONY baseball and softball for ages 4-14 and a growing soccer program.

    COVID-19/Coronavirus Update

Update: 5/7/2020 - The City has extended the stay-at-home order and will keep city facilities closed through May 30th. While Delwood is independent of the City, we operate on parkland in agreement with the city and must abide by their decision to keep city recreational facilities closed.

Update: 4/20/2020 - The following message was sent out to baseball/softball parents. We are still finalizing the soccer plan.

    Howdy parents,

On behalf of the Delwood Sports Board, we hope you and your families are doing well. We miss coaching your kids and miss seeing the complex full virtually every day of the week.

While we don't know yet when youth sports will be allowed to resume, the Board wants to announce our plans for the summer.

For the Spring 2020 season, if we are allowed to return to action by June 1st, we will attempt to have a June and July season. We are in discussion with the other local leagues who are planning to play a similar timeframe. For our younger kids, worst case if we are allowed back, we'll play all within Delwood. For the older kids, we will need to join with some outside leagues, so we will have to see how that works out.

In either case, if we are allowed to resume by June 1st, we will try to have a short season.

If we can not return to the fields by June 1, we will officially cancel the Spring season and honor your registration for the Fall season with kids bringing back their Spring jersey. Everyone will be on the same teams. If this happens, we will send out a form to confirm your intent to play in the Fall so we know how many kids we could accept who weren't already registered for the Spring season that will be due around July 1.

For those who aren't able to play in the Fall, we will offer a coupon code for a discounted registration for Spring 2021.

We have not set the Fall dates yet, but generally, we'll likely start practicing later in August with games starting the weekend after Labor Day.

As you can imagine, there are a lot of things up in the air, so we will have more details in the future, so we appreciate your patience. Things aren't quite changing every day, but it's hard to set any plans!

Thank you for your support of youth sports in East Austin and hope to see you and your families soon.

Update: 4/13/2020 - The order has been extended to May 8th. Resumption of activities will be determined once we have a better end date.

Update: 3/19/2020 - The following message was sent out to our coaches:

An update on Delwood overall: The mayor’s order for no gatherings larger than 10 people includes us, so all activities at Delwood are suspended until the mayor’s order has been revoked or expires. It is currently set to expire May 1.
We will not play any games (home or away) nor have any practices during that time at any location. Having just you and your players together automatically exceeds the legal size.
For Delwood baseball: If the order is revoked early or allowed to expire on May 1st, we will have a compressed season roughly for the month of May. We’ll publish a new schedule as that gets closer with intraleague games and hosting any other league willing to play. We will aim to have a weeknight game and a Saturday game for each team, taking Memorial Day weekend off. We may suspend some rules related to coaching (e.g. 8U coach-pitchers can’t coach their players by rule and 6U only allows 2 defensive coaches on the field, etc) since we’re going without practice, but we’ll clarify that closer to a restart.
Under this scenario, we would begin on Saturday, May 2nd and would conclude our season by Friday, June 5th.
We are exploring possibly having a very low-cost summer season, especially for the younger age groups; we will send out questions later to determine if this is feasible.
For Delwood softball: The area leagues are trying to figure out if leagues would be willing to play games starting May 2nd to do something similar to baseball. At this time, we don’t know yet if this is possible.
All-Stars: With the shortened season, the uncertainty at this point if we can rely on May to restart play, and the lack of information from PONY on any modifications to their all-star process, we are opting not to participate in All-Stars this year at this time.
To be frank, it is a lot of time and money that need to start going into it very soon to make it happen. With our kids missing so much instruction on their primary rec teams and the uncertainty on when we’d be able to have try-outs or begin practices, we won’t be able to send solid teams. At this point, we don't know if we would even get any practice in before the tournaments start.
If and when PONY communicates any changes to their all-star process, we may reassess this decision, but, at this time, we’re not expecting to field All-Star teams.
Thank you all for your understanding. Our primary goal with the compressed Spring season is to maximize the ability for kids to play under the existing registrations and teams.

For Delwood soccer: We are still finalizing the plan and look to be making an announcement soon.
Stay well and hopefully see y’all on the fields in May.
